September 2018 Ministry Update (Prayer Items)

Bob Roane

One prayer warrior told me, “The more you write, the more we pray.” I like that! Your prayers help us bring God’s word, by the Spirit’s blessing, to change people’s lives. You enable us to proclaim, explain, apply, and demonstrate Jesus’ love and eternal hope in word and deed. You help us serve many hurting people and I appreciate you! If you know of other places who might want my teaching or preaching please let me know. No group is too small or large.

Some of you send me prayer requests by email, regular mail, or give them to me at Christ E.P. Church (CEPC). I would love to pray for any needs and/or praise items that you have, so please send them to me. “Far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray for you.” (1 Sam 12:23) Christ’s people really do meet around His throne of grace as we pray, even though separated by many miles (Johnson Oatman). You can also send me prayer requests using the website’s Contact Form at www.WOHBM.org/contact.

In August, we concluded an eight month class at CEPC called “Christ Is Everything to His Followers.” We focused on how Jesus alone brings us eternal happiness and, without him, nothing else will satisfy. Excepts from this class appear on our website as blog postings. Please check them out; more will be coming. Thank you for praying!

On Sept. 9, we began a new class at CEPC called “Christ and His Heaven.” Pollsters say belief in Heaven is increasing, but people are confused about who gets there and how. We will study many Scriptures about the future, what Heaven is like, and how to be ready for our death and for Jesus’ return. Facing death in Christ enables us to live life courageously for Him and in fellowship with Him. If you can, come learn with us! If not, please pray.

I mail some of you paper or email articles that I’ve written. I don’t expect you to read them all, I just want to show what I do with your prayer investment. Excerpts from what I have taught at Belhaven University, CEPC, and other places become handouts used in teaching, pastoral visiting/counseling, and in prison. They are little time-release capsules of Bible truth that I try to spread around, obeying Ecclesiastes 11:1—”Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will reap a return after many days.” I can’t give away books in prison, but I’ve brought in lots of handouts since 2011. In the free world, those who don’t use the internet much value a hard copy for their own personal growth and/or to give away to others. Please consider passing on our paper or email handouts to others yourself. If you are not on our MailChimp mailing lists for Blog Updates (about every 5 days) or Ministry Updates (once per month) and would like to be added, please let me know by email or you can subscribe using the form on our blog at www.WOHBM.org/blog.

Texas has 147,000 adults in prison and cost of incarceration per adult prisoner is $19,500. All the men we serve are somebody’s husband, son, brother, or father. By helping offenders, we also help their families and everyone else. Jesus says, “I was in prison and you came to visit me….I tell you the truth, whatever you did for the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:36-40)

Don’t forget, I really appreciate your friendship, fellowship, and partnership with us in ministry!

Your very grateful brother in Christ, Bob
