February 2018 Ministry Update (Prison Ministry)

Bob Roane

Dear Praying Friends + Supporters,

By God’s grace and help, we finished 2017 in the black! This is amazing because some long-time supporters are retired and getting by on lower income. The Lord brought us new sponsors and others dug deeper to help us more. It’s amazing also because most people we serve with teaching, counseling, and evangelism can’t or don’t give us anything. Philippians 4:19—“My God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” The Lord always meets all our needs and He uses you to do that. Praise God! And thank YOU for helping us bring Christ’s hope to hopeless people, one life or one family at a time! Here are some prison ministry updates:

At Jester 3 prison, we’ve just completed 18 weeks of the 36 week course on Authentic Manhood. This is the 4th time around, each time with a new group of 50 men. The next 6 weeks are devoted to a Christian view and practice of work. Here are nuggets from class notes:

Work is a way of saying, “Thank you, Lord.”….Work was an integral part of God’s paradise in Eden….We don’t merely need the money from work to survive; we need the work itself to survive and to live fully human lives….Work is the thing we live to do, the calling in which we offer ourselves to the Lord gratefully….Work has dignity because it is something God Himself does and because we do it in God’s service, as His representatives in His world….There are no trivial assignments in the work of the Lord.

The Lord commands: “Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.” (Hebrews 13:3). Thank you for praying for the men at Jester 3 and sending me to minister to them. As we help these men, we also help their wives and children, their mothers and sisters, and everyone else in society.

May the Lord’s joy and peace bless you now and forever!

In Christian love, Bob Roane
