Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name; worship the Lord in the splendor of His holiness. (Psalm 29:1-2)
“Ascribing” praise to Jesus means that we worship, glorify, adore, and speak well of Him to ourselves and to others. Harold Lindsell rightly said: “The continual offering of praise to God requires stamina. We ought to praise Him even when we don’t feel like it. Praising Him takes away the blues and restores us to spiritual health.” Praising Jesus is great for the soul!
Here are some more ascriptions of praise that I use myself and in helping others focus on Christ in hard and uncertain times. These are all from the New Testament and I have scattered hymn stanzas in between.
This is Part 2 of 2. You can go back and read Ascribing Praise to Jesus (Part 1).
